After that, all the gallery had to do was repeat it. Saves time, saves effort. He made a couple of (extremely well-publicised) visits. Well, it must be true then. Whether Abbott knows anything about any other portfolio such as Defence..yeah well. And we all know how that played out...Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00980516278540861554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22534369.post-82725752749524920372016-11-05T08:50:48.812+11:002016-11-05T08:50:48.812+11:00Thanks Andrew. I enjoy the directness of your commentary.

I am amused/irritated by suggestions that Abbott would settle down if he were given a ministry and that the Liberals' factional war would slow to a tepid simmer.

Why?

First of all the replaced Minister and his (most likely) supporters would be livid. Turn up the gas jet!

Abbott would not be satisfied. He would use any ministry and position in Cabinet to continue his assault on Turnbull. He wants the top job. End of story.

Surely it should be clear to all by now that Abbott is a gladiator. He is always fighting. I am sure he is enjoying himself mightily at the moment.

It seems he is prepared to take on God too.

I was amused/irritated to read snippets of a speech he gave to a Catholic association in which he said that people of faith would be confident to stand before God because they had led blameless lives or words to that effect.

I think he would have been imagining himself at the Pearly Gates on Judgement Day. I can imagine him arguing vehemently if the Almighty had other ideas. All those parables come to mind: the Good Samaritan, the Loaves and Fishes, the Widow's Mite, not to mention the Sermon on the Mount.

I don't think protestations of having Stopped the Boats would win him many favours in the Celestial Chamber.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
